As soon as I saw the carriage pull up, I could tell Elaine had absolutely NO idea what we were up to. She was entirely convinced the “surprise” Matt had planned was just the fact that they got a carriage ride, and was not even a little bit expecting to end the night with a ring on her finger. As they got out of the carriage Matt started to explain that they weren’t in town for a convention like he’d told her, but that he had something else planned all along. He began to kneel and pull the ring out of his pocket, and before he even got half the question out, Elaine was shouting YES!!! It was one of the sweetest proposals I have ever been able to document and I was nearly in tears right along with them.Read More
I love all kinds of weddings. Big, traditional, out of the box, indoor, outdoor…it doesn’t matter to me, I love it all. Elopements, though, have a special place in my heart. An elopement was truly my dream wedding, but I didn’t want to have to be strict about who was and wasn’t able to be there, so we had a small but traditional wedding in a beautiful art gallery I had worked in for years. In the back of my head, though, I still longed for the simple sweet beach elopement with lots of fun portraits after our intimate I do’s. Now, I get the pleasure of photographing my dream wedding for a few select clients each year!
Misty and David found me through their incredible planner, Aimee, of Amanda Rose Weddings. Aimee is the BEST and I absolutely love when she and I get to work together. We both love these special elopements, and we get so excited when we get to team up on them. Misty and David wanted a short ceremony—it was six minutes in total—followed by beautiful couples portraits all around their resort, the amazing Omni Hilton Head. We had an absolute ball creating these images before they headed off to a romantic dinner alone to celebrate before going on a honeymoon cruise the next day. I may or may not have spent the entire time attempting to convince them to move to Beaufort so we can hang out all the time.
Yes, I absolutely did do that. Tennessee is cool, but Beaufort is more cool and I love when my clients can also be my friends! You can see how much fun we had together by how at ease and joyful this beautiful couple is in their photographs. I cannot wait to see their prints and how they display it all in their home! Just wait until you see the final few images. David asked me, “Can we have one shot that looks like it could be a mafia movie poster, all glam and serious and high contrast?” Um. Of course we can do that. I aim to please. It’s the absolute perfect image for a large canvas in a bold frame on a mantle. I am still in love with it, a month later.
Chris is SO in love with his “pretty girl” and new wife. I think he must have said “you’re such a pretty girl, you’re so beautiful at least five hundred times on their wedding day. Gabrielle couldn’t have been more thrilled to be married to her sweet new husband and couldn’t stop exclaiming, “I’m a wife now!” The joy was contagious, and even though it was forty degrees and raining, we couldn’t have been in warmer spirits if we tried.Read More
Before their vows, Kristen and Jason had their pastor ask all of the guests, every last one, to come put their hands on the couple and pray for them and their new life together. I have no words for how special this was to witness or how hard it was not to put my cameras down and join in. These intimate moments and glimpses into the lives of the couples I spend time with are what really truly drives me in my work. Every moment from the start of the ceremony until the party really got going at the reception was absolutely giving clues on who exactly Jason and Kristen are together and as individuals, and I am so thankful to have seen their day.Read More
Chandler and John have such deep and joyful love for each other that you couldn’t help but feel it all around you as you spent their wedding day with them. Second shooting this beautiful day with Devon Donnahoo Photography was such a pleasure, not only because it was spent at the stunning Tabby Place at Beaufort Inn, but because of how much happiness surrounded the bride and groom all day long.Read More
