With their closest friends, their children, and their families, we celebrated hard from the minute I arrived until the light and noise ordinance on Hilton Head forced us to call it a night, but not before one last party hard moment of every single wedding party member and guest jumping into the pool fully clothed. Three iPhones sacrificed their lives for the making of those images, folks, but in my book it was worth it!Read more
Beth is my best friend and has been since nearly the first day we met in December of 2012. We’ve been together through our college graduation, her years in pharmacy school, me becoming a business owner and photographer, our engagements, weddings, my first pregnancy and birth, and now her first pregnancy and soon to be birth. We know all the good, all the bad, and all the ugly, and love each other for all of it. Her husband Bryan is a wonderful human, too, and is one of the best men I know and is about to be an incredible father.Read more
As soon as I saw the carriage pull up, I could tell Elaine had absolutely NO idea what we were up to. She was entirely convinced the “surprise” Matt had planned was just the fact that they got a carriage ride, and was not even a little bit expecting to end the night with a ring on her finger. As they got out of the carriage Matt started to explain that they weren’t in town for a convention like he’d told her, but that he had something else planned all along. He began to kneel and pull the ring out of his pocket, and before he even got half the question out, Elaine was shouting YES!!! It was one of the sweetest proposals I have ever been able to document and I was nearly in tears right along with them.Read more
I love all kinds of weddings. Big, traditional, out of the box, indoor, outdoor…it doesn’t matter to me, I love it all. Elopements, though, have a special place in my heart. An elopement was truly my dream wedding, but I didn’t want to have to be strict about who was and wasn’t able to be there, so we had a small but traditional wedding in a beautiful art gallery I had worked in for years. In the back of my head, though, I still longed for the simple sweet beach elopement with lots of fun portraits after our intimate I do’s. Now, I get the pleasure of photographing my dream wedding for a few select clients each year!
Misty and David found me through their incredible planner, Aimee, of Amanda Rose Weddings. Aimee is the BEST and I absolutely love when she and I get to work together. We both love these special elopements, and we get so excited when we get to team up on them. Misty and David wanted a short ceremony—it was six minutes in total—followed by beautiful couples portraits all around their resort, the amazing Omni Hilton Head. We had an absolute ball creating these images before they headed off to a romantic dinner alone to celebrate before going on a honeymoon cruise the next day. I may or may not have spent the entire time attempting to convince them to move to Beaufort so we can hang out all the time.
Yes, I absolutely did do that. Tennessee is cool, but Beaufort is more cool and I love when my clients can also be my friends! You can see how much fun we had together by how at ease and joyful this beautiful couple is in their photographs. I cannot wait to see their prints and how they display it all in their home! Just wait until you see the final few images. David asked me, “Can we have one shot that looks like it could be a mafia movie poster, all glam and serious and high contrast?” Um. Of course we can do that. I aim to please. It’s the absolute perfect image for a large canvas in a bold frame on a mantle. I am still in love with it, a month later.
Chris is SO in love with his “pretty girl” and new wife. I think he must have said “you’re such a pretty girl, you’re so beautiful at least five hundred times on their wedding day. Gabrielle couldn’t have been more thrilled to be married to her sweet new husband and couldn’t stop exclaiming, “I’m a wife now!” The joy was contagious, and even though it was forty degrees and raining, we couldn’t have been in warmer spirits if we tried.Read more
